GERSHWIN Concerto in F
Inventively mixing jazz, blues and ragtime into a single work, George Gershwin created a modern marvel with his Concerto in F. Pianist Jon Kimura Parker, described by the Chicago Tribune as a “commanding soloist for his strength and suppleness,” performs Gershwin’s showy work for piano and orchestra. This concert also features Gershwin’s energetic Cuban Overture capturing the distinct flavor of our island neighbor, plus the St. Louis premiere of John Adams’ Saxophone Concerto.
