Symphony in Your School
The elementary level Symphony in Your School program is a 6-10 week, in-depth residency program in which STL Symphony musicians engage directly with students in the classroom. Each school will be paired with one “Resident Musician,” with whom they will work throughout the course of the residency, along with visits from additional STL Symphony musicians. The specialized curriculum is designed for specific grade levels and will be tailored to each classroom’s needs. Students will begin by learning about the world of the orchestra and then will create their own work of art showcasing their knowledge. They’ll also receive a backstage pass to see their Resident Musician at an STL Symphony Education Concert. Participating teachers will be guaranteed space in STL Symphony Professional Development workshops. Participation is by application only. See application for further details.
Symphony in Your School (Secondary Level) is an intensive residency program for middle and high school bands and orchestras. The ensemble director and secondary education programs coordinator will develop goals and objectives for the residency specific to each ensemble's needs. Participating ensembles will receive STL Symphony Musician visits tailored to the goals of the residency. Participation in Symphony in Your School (Secondary Level) is free, however, schools are required to obtain tickets and transportation to a STL Symphony Eduction Concert. Participation is by application only. See application for further details.
