Red Velvet Ball Nets $800K
MEDIA ALERT: ST. LOUIS SYMPHONY NETS $800K DURING RED VELVET BALL
ST. LOUIS—The St. Louis Symphony is proud to announce its fourth annual Red Velvet Ball, held on October 20, netted more than $800,000. All proceeds raised from the Gala directly benefit the Symphony.
This year’s Red Velvet Ball, chaired by Dave and Thelma Steward, featured legendary trumpeter Wynton Marsalis and his Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. The group performed Marsalis’ Swing Symphony along with the St. Louis Symphony at Powell Hall. Click here to view the St. Louis Post-Dispatch's review of the performance. Gala guests were treated to a pre-concert cocktail reception and post-concert dinner, dancing and desserts in a tent constructed adjacent to Powell Hall. The event’s presenting sponsor was World Wide Technology, Inc.
In addition to the Gala concert, Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra also conducted a master class and corresponding side-by-side concert with the East St. Louis High School Jazz Ensemble.
