IRA Charitable Roller gifts are back in business for 2014!
U.S. Congress has retroactively reinstated the provision that allows donors to make tax-free gifts from their IRA account in 2014. To take advantage of these tax benefits, you must direct your IRA plan provider to make a distribution to us by December 31, 2014.
Here are the details:
- You must be 70½ or older when you make your gift, and the gift must be made from an IRA—no other retirement plans (such as 401(k), 403(b) or SEP accounts) qualify
- Contributions up to $100,000 are allowed ($200,000 for married couples)
- Your gift must come to us outright—it cannot be used to establish a life-income arrangement or support a donor-advised fund
- Although the distribution will be free from income tax, it will not generate an income tax charitable deduction
As always, we encourage you to consult your financial advisor for assistance.
If you have questions or need help making a gift, please contact Elaine Wichmer at 314-286-4457 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
